A recent report released by the Commonwealth Fund - Mirror, Mirror On The Wall: How the Performance of the U.S. Health Care System Compares Internationally - has ranked 11 countries' healthcare systems based a number of factors contributing to efficiency and outcomes.
Among the 11 nations studied — Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States — the US Healthcare System ranked last, as it did in prior editions of the report. The UK finds its healthcare system ranked 1st, followed closely by Switzerland.
While the report has expanded its sample from 7 to 11 countries, and is incorporating more and more physician and patient surveys on care experiences, it must also be noted that this issue is based on findings prior to the implementation of the PPACA.
